I. Advanced Security Training Information for 8-hour AST Re-Certification course

The Advanced Security Re-Certification Course is designed for security professionals who may be required to utilize force response options or restraints when dealing with high-risk or violent individuals during the course of their duties.

This course is intended for, but not limited to:

    • Loss Prevention Personnel
    • Hospital Security Personnel
    • Licensed Liquor Establishment Door Persons
    • Airport Security Personnel
    • Campus Security Personnel
    • Security Professionals working in high-risk environments

II. Schedule for 8-hour AST Re-Certificaton course

 1st  September Course:

      • Saturday, September 26, 2026 ………………………………from 09:30-17:30 Hrs
      • Sunday, September 27, 2026 – WRITTEN EXAM ………..from 15:00-17:00 Hrs

                 ** Deadline to register for this  AST recertification course is one Friday, September 18, 2026.

      • Do not pay the course fee until you received confirmation from us that the course will proceed! 
      •  The fee for this course is NON-REFUNDABLE. 
      • If you are interested in taking the course, complete and submit the JIBC AST Student Attendance Form. 
      • Check your JIBC AST Certficate date to ensure it is NOT expired.

III.  Course Fee Information for 8-hour AST Re-Certification course

  • The $350.00 total course fee includes the DWK training fee, applicable JIBC fees, student manuals, administration fee, and tax. 
  • DWK Consulting reserves the right to make changes including fees and schedule without prior notice!

IV.  Registration information for 8-hour AST Recertification Course.

** The information on the JIBC AST student attendance form is required by JIBC one week before the course starts.

** You will need a laptop for the in classroom training and for writing the JIBC AST online examination.

Physical Training Requirements

  • The physical training includes scenario-based activities, warm-up exercises, self-defence and control-tactics training, including joint-manipulation techniques and safely taking a subject to the floor mats using an armbar takedown before applying handcuffs.
  • Students who have a medical condition that may prevent them from safely participating in the physical training should consider consulting a qualified medical doctor before attending the course.

      1. Click the JIBC AST Student Attendance Form hyperlink below.
      2. Complete all required fields carefully and accurately.
      3. Review your information before submitting the form.
      4. Click Submit at the bottom of the form.
      5. The completed form will be sent directly to DWK Consulting.
      6. Please do not enter your Security Worker Licence number in the JIBC Student Number field.
      7. The JIBC Student Number must start with “j0” —  followed by six digits
      8. If you do not know your JIBC Student Number, type: “I will obtain my JIBC Student Number and provide it to DWK Consulting as soon as possible.”
      9. To obtain the JIBC Student Number, please contact the JIBC Registration Office at 604-528-5590 or email register@jibc.ca to obtain it.

Training may be conducted at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC, or at approved company training facilities. Due to anticipated demand, early scheduling is recommended.
