The advanced security training course (AST) is a 24-hour course that was developed by the Justice Institute of British Columbia and the Security Programs and Security Programs Division of the British Columbia Ministry of Justice.

The course is designed for security professionals who, in the course of their duties, may need to employ force response options or use restraints when confronted by high-risk, resistant, or violent individuals.

These security professionals include but are not limited to loss prevention personnel, hospitals, door persons at licensed liquor establishments, and security personnel at airports and school campuses.

AST Course Schedule

We are offering three AST courses in July on the following dates:

Course # 1= July 2, 3, & 4, 2025 ……….. from 9am-5pm ech day
Course # 2= July 7, 8 & 9, 2025………..from 9am-5pm ech day
Course # 2= July 10, 11 & 12, 2025……. from 9am-5pm ech day

Please note:

** If you wish to take the AST course on one of the above dates, please email us the registration form and let us know which course you would like
to take.
** Our next AST course will be in September, 2025
** The JIBC requires all schools and instructors to submit the student registation form ONE WEEK before the course starts.

AST Course Fee

The AST fee for July = $360.00 + 5 % Tax

The above fee includes:

24 hours of professional instructions.
Fee for the use of Douglas College training facility.
Use of professional wrestling mats.
Use of our handcuffs.
Use of our training equipment such as impact shields and other material.
All PPE (gloves and other safety equipment).
Emailing you in advance important AST course joining instructions to prepare yourself for the AST course.
Participate in several AST practice tests prepared by DWK Consulting to assist you for writing the AST exam.
Providing assistance how to apply to the Security Programs Division in Victoria to obtain the handcuffing endorsement on your security licence.
Other professional services for our students to complete the AST course.

** The above AST fee does not include:

The $65.00 written examination fee
The $25.00 fee for the JIBC AST student manual

Please note:

The $472.25 includes JIBC $65.00 AST Exam, $25.00 JIBC student manual and 5% tax.
We will only accept up to 12 students for this course.
The AST course fee is non-refundable!

There are two ways to make the AST course payment:

1. Pay by PayPal (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Debit Card)

2. Pay by Direct Bank Transfer (E-transfer)

E-Transfer Instructions

1. Please use our email address dwkconsulting@telus.net to transfer the AST course fee.
2. Under “MEMO” please type your full name so that we know that it is YOU who made the e-transfer or contact us by phone/text (604) 941-3453 or email to let us know that you paid the course fee.
3. If you have difficulty or if you don’t understand how to make an e-transfer from your bank account, please contact your financial institution to obtain assistance.
