16 HOUR WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND DE-ESCALATION PROGRAM
Description
This is a two day professional “Hands On” Workplace Violence & De-escalation Program”.
It is comprised of short discussions/power point presentation and hands physical instructions including scenario-based workplace related simulation training.
This unique training program is designed to provide first responders with the necessary tools to deal effectively with people who may pose risks of violence and thus preventing/minimizing/eliminating potential threats of workplace violence.
Day 1 is focused on “Situational Awareness and Workplace Safety” and includes but is not limited to the following areas:
- WorkSafe BC workplace violence prevention regulations,
- Guidelines pertaining to employers workplace violence policies & procedures
- Introduction to Situational Awareness
- Recognizing Potential Threats in the Workplace
- De-Escalation Techniques in the Workplace
- Safety Protocols and Crisis Response Plans
- Practical Exercise: (Role-playing scenarios for de-escalation and evacuation)
Day 2 is focused on “Personal Safety and Street Awareness”. The program includes but is not limited to the following areas:
- Situational Awareness in Public and Street Environments
- Reading Body Language and Behavioral Cues
- Practical Exercise
- Personal Safety Tools and Self-Defense Basics
- Legal Self-defense Tools (pepper spray, alarms, etc.) and Their Uses
- Awareness of Local Laws Regarding Self-defense
- Basic Self-defense Techniques: Breakaway techniques from grabs, defensive stances
- Developing a Personal Safety Plan
- Practical Exercise:
- Hands-on Self-defense Drills.
The training is most suitable for:
- Firefighters and Paramedics,
- Enforcement Agencies (Bi-law Officers)
- Other agencies, corporations and companies located in the lower Mainland of BC
