I. Advanced Security Training Information for 8-hour AST Re-Certification course

The Advanced Security Re-Certification Course is designed for security professionals who may be required to utilize force response options or restraints when dealing with high-risk or violent individuals during the course of their duties.

This course is intended for, but not limited to:

    • Loss Prevention Personnel
    • Hospital Security Personnel
    • Licensed Liquor Establishment Door Persons
    • Airport Security Personnel
    • Campus Security Personnel
    • Security Professionals working in high-risk environments

II. Schedule for 8-hour AST Re-Certificaton course

 June 2026 Schedule

  • Saturday, June 27, 2026 — 09:30–17:30 hours

Please note: 

1. You have the option to participate:

        • On Day 2  for eight hours (8) course, or
        • In all three days of the  24 hour AST course.

3. We  recommend that you take part in all three classes due to the amount of information covered in
the new AST course (There are 265 pages in the BST manual and about 100 pages in the AST book).
4. The JIBC written examination is comprised of  BST and  AST questions.
5.  Student who fail the exam twice must take the entire 24-hour AST again.

III.  Course Fee Information for 8-hour AST Re-Certification course

    • Course Fee:  $375.00 + tax     

**  The AST Recertification course fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

IV. Registration Information for 8-Hour AST Recertfication Course

  • To register for the 8-Hour AST Recertification course, students are requested to complete the
    below DWK Consulting Student Registration Form (DWK Consulting AST Course Registration Form).
  • DWK Consulting uses this form for course registration, student contact information, and course administration.
  • Please click the hyperlink below and complete all required sections of the form.

Upon receiving the fully completed DWK Consulting Student Registration we’ll email you instructions when/how/where to:

      1.  Complete/submit JIBC Student Registration Form (JIBC Excel Student Attendance Form), 
      2.  Pay the course fee
    • We’ll not confirm a student’s registration until we receive:
      1. The fully completed JIBC Student Registration Form (Excel form)
      2. Payment for the course

** Do not send payment until DWK Consulting confirms that space is available

V. Written Examination Information

    1. After successful completion of the 24-hour AST classroom training, DWK Consulting will submit the required course information to JIBC.
    2. Once JIBC confirms processing, DWK Consulting will contact students with written examination instructions.
    3. Do not contact JIBC about the AST written examination until DWK Consulting instructs you to do so.

VII.  Corporate Advanced Re-Certification Security Training

 DWK Consulting provides:

    • 24-Hour AST Certification
    • 8-Hour AST Re-certification
    • Private Corporate AST Training
    • Flexible scheduling, subject to facility availability

Training may be conducted at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC, or at approved company training facilities. Due to anticipated demand, early scheduling is recommended.
