I. Advanced Security Training Information for 8-hour AST Re-Certification course

The Advanced Security Re-Certification Course is designed for security professionals who may be required to utilize force response options or restraints when dealing with high-risk or violent individuals during the course of their duties.

This course is intended for, but not limited to:

    • Loss Prevention Personnel
    • Hospital Security Personnel
    • Licensed Liquor Establishment Door Persons
    • Airport Security Personnel
    • Campus Security Personnel
    • Security Professionals working in high-risk environments

II. Schedule for 8-hour AST Re-Certificaton course

    1. The new AST curriculum makes this course challenging including the written examination.
    2. To take the 8-hour AST recertification course you are required to participate on Saturday  from 09:00 hrs. – 17:30 hrs.
    3.  In addition, we are asking students who are taking the recertification course to return on Sunday, at 3pm, to take the examination in classroom at Douglas College.
    4. Ensure that your JIBC AST certificate is NOT expired.
    5. If it is expired you will have to take the 24-hour AST course (When you register, we are requesting students to email as a copy of the JIBC AST certificate to verify the certificate is not expired).
    6.  Our next AST Recertification course will be in September or October 2026
    7. Please do not email us with the registration form unless you are committed to taking the course, make the payment and complete required documents!

III.  Course Fee Information for 8-hour AST Re-Certification course

    **    THE AST RECERTIFICATION COURSE FEE = $465.00

Cost Breakdown:

    • AST fee =$295
    • JIBC exam fee = 64.41
    • JIBC student fee = $37.65
    •  JIBC student fee = $37.65
    • JIBC student manuals BST & AST
    • Tax

This fee includes:

    • 24 hours of professional instruction (new AST curriculum)
    • Use of spacious classrooms at Douglas College (washrooms, parking, food facilities)
    • Official JIBC BST Manual (required for course participation)
    • Official JIBC AST Manual (required for course participation)
    • Use of handcuffs and keys (provided during training)
    • Use of impact protection safety equipment
    • Professional floor wrestling mats for practical training
    • Personal protective equipment (gloves, disinfectants, paper towels, face masks)
    • Professionally prepared practice tests
    • Security and law enforcement training videos

       **   JIBC AST course fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.

IV.  Registration information for 8-hour AST Recertification Course.

** Please do not submit the registration forms unless you are committed to taking the course,make the payment and complete all required documents.

  ** If you wish to take the course, please complete STET 1 and STEP 2 below.

** We will not be able to take the course unless we have received the payment
and the fully completed JIBC AST student attendance form. 

** We do not reserve or hold a seat until the full payment is received.

** The fee for this course is NON-REFUNDABLE.

STEP 1

Register- Instructions: (Read carefully all the information below!)

    1. Click JIBC AST STUDENT ATTENDANCE FORM.

    1. Download and open the form in Microsoft Word.
    2.   Complete the yellow horizontal row.
        •  Complete every field marked with a red * and type your birth date as
          YYYY-MM-DD.  Example: 1990-04-25.
        •  Type Yes or No for all Yes/No questions.
        •   For Province, type BC unless another province applies.
    1. Make sure all fields are filled out correctly.
      • If you already have a JIBC student number, please provide it to DWK Consulting.
      • Our student number is not your license number. It is your BST certificate number.
      • Please call the JIBC registration office at 604-528-5590 and press 2 to confirm your student number or email the JIBC Registration office requesting to obtain the student number: register@jibc.ca
      • If you took the BST course more than 5 years ago, the JIBC will create a student number for you.
      • You can still attend the DWK Consulting AST course and write the exam even if you do not have a JIBC student number. 
      • Do not be concerned and do not delay your registration.
      • JIBC will create or confirm your student profile during its administrative processing.
    1. After you have filled out all the fields correctly, save the completed Word document
      ( Do not send it as a PDF or photo).

6.  Email the saved Word document back to dwkconsulting@telus.net 

     7.  Please note, the JIBC requires the student Attendance registration information
SEVEN DAYS before the course starts!

               8.  Your registration is not complete until the JIBC AST course student attendance form
and course payment has been received TOGETHER at our office by email.

STEP 2

Payment- Instructions:  (You have two options to make the payment)

  •  1. OPTION A – PAYPAL / CARD
    1. Click the DWK PayPal payment link below.
    2. The PayPal page will open.
    3. Log in to PayPal or create a PayPal account.
    4. Pay $465.00 by Mastercard, Visa, American Express, or Debit Card.
    5. Save your receipt or take a screenshot.

2. OPTION B – INTERAC E-TRANSFER

    1. Open your bank app or online banking.
    2. Choose Interac E-Transfer.
    3. Add DWK Consulting as the recipient.
    4. Send $465.00 to:

    5. In the message box, type your full legal name.
    6. Send the e-transfer.

**  Your registration is not complete until the JIBC AST course student attendance form and course payment has been received TOGETHER at our office by email.

Training may be conducted at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC, or at approved company training facilities. Due to anticipated demand, early scheduling is recommended.
