24-Hour Advanced Security Training (AST) Course
The Advanced Security Training (AST) Course is a 24-hour certification course designed for security professionals who may be required to utilize force response options or restraints when dealing with high-risk or violent individuals during the course of their duties.
This course is intended for, but not limited to:
- Loss Prevention Personnel
- Hospital Security Personnel
- Licensed Liquor Establishment Door Persons
- Airport Security Personnel
- Campus Security Personnel
- Security Professionals working in high-risk environments

- Friday, June 12, 2026 — 09:30–17:30 hours
- Saturday, June 13, 2026 — 09:30–17:30 hours
- Sunday, June 14, 2026 — 09:30–17:30 hours
Course Fee Information

Course Fee: $375.00 + tax = $393.75
The $393.75 course fee includes the following:
- 24 hours of professional AST instruction
- 5% Provincial Tax
- Official JIBC BST Manual (yours to keep)
- Official JIBC AST Manual (yours to keep)
- Use of Douglas College classroom facilities
- Use of DWK Consulting handcuffs and handcuff keys during practical training
- Use of professional impact protection and safety equipment
- Use of professional floor wrestling mats for takedown training
- Personal protective equipment including gloves, disinfectant supplies, and face masks
- Professionally prepared AST practice examinations
- Professional security and law enforcement training videos
Please note the following:
- The $393.75 course fee does not include the $63.15 written examination fee for the JIBC
- When students contact the JIBC to register and schedule their AST written examination, they are responsible for paying the $63.15 examination fee directly to the JIBC.
- The AST written examination is conducted in person at the JIBC.
- Students are required to bring a laptop computer with Google Chrome installed for the written examination.
- Upon successful completion of the AST course, students will be provided with instructions regarding how to contact the JIBC by email to pay for and schedule their examination date.
JIBC AST Written Examination Procedures
- Upon successful completion of the 24-hour AST classroom training, the JIBC will process the student course completion information submitted by DWK Consulting
- Due to anticipated processing volumes, it may take approximately one week or longer before DWK Consulting receives authorization from the JIBC to instruct students to proceed with the written examination registration process.
- Once DWK Consulting receives confirmation from the JIBC, students will be contacted with instructions regarding:

- when to register for the examination,
- who to contact at the JIBC,
- examination payment procedures,
- and examination scheduling procedures.
Please DO NOT contact the JIBC directly regarding the AST written examination until we ask you to do so.

STEP 1 — Review Course Information

STEP 2 — Complete the Online Registration Form

- Complete and submit the online AST registration form.
- Please ensure all information is entered correctly.
STEP 3 — Complete the JIBC Excel Student Attendance Form

- Click here on: JIBC Excel Student Attendance Form
- After clicking on the “JIBC Excel Student Attendance Form” link, a download window will appear on your computer. Please click “SAVE” to download the Excel form to your computer. Once downloaded, open the Excel file, complete all required information and email to dwkconsulting@telus.net .
- Please ensure to include your JIBC Student Number on the form. If you do not know your JIBC Student Number, contact JIBC Registration at register@jibc.ca or 604-528-5590. If you are unable to obtain your JIBC Student Number, enter your Security Worker Licence Number instead.
