 I.  Advanced Security Training Information for 24-hour Course (AST)

The Advanced Security Training (AST) Course is a 24-hour certification course designed for security professionals who may be required to utilize force response options or restraints when dealing with high-risk or violent individuals during the course of their duties.

This course is intended for, but not limited to:

    • Loss Prevention Personnel
    • Hospital Security Personnel
    • Licensed Liquor Establishment Door Persons
    • Airport Security Personnel
    • Campus Security Personnel
    • Security Professionals working in high-risk environments

      • The fee for this course is NON-REFUNDABLE.
      • If you have another person make the payment for you, make sure you let us know:

1) the name of the person who made the payment;
2) the amount of the payment made;
3) how the transaction was made (e.g.  Credit card or E-Transfer);
4) the name of the student who is going to take the course.

IV. Registration information for 24-Hour AST Course       

  • The JIBC requires all complete student attendance forms one week before the course commences.
  • We accept a maximum of 12 students for the course.
  •  You will need a laptop for all three days of training including writing the JIBC AST examination in class on day 3 of the course.            __________________________________________________________________________
  •  COMPLETE THE ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM
      1. Click the JIBC AST Student Attendance Form hyperlink below.
      2. Complete all required fields carefully and accurately.
      3. Review your information before submitting the form.
      4. Click Submit at the bottom of the form.
      5. The completed form will be sent directly to DWK Consulting.
      6. Please do not enter your Security Worker Licence number in the JIBC Student Number field.
      7. The JIBC Student Number must start with “j0” — followed by six digits.
      8. If you do not know your JIBC Student Number, type: “I will obtain my JIBC Student Number and provide it to DWK Consulting as soon as possible.”
      9. To obtain the JIBC Student Number, please contact the JIBC Registration Office at 604-528-5590 or email register@jibc.ca to obtain it.

Physical Training Requirements

    • The physical training includes scenario-based activities, warm-up exercises, self-defense and control tactics training including joint manipulation techniques, taking safely a subject to the ground onto floor mats using an armbar takedown to handcuff the subject.
    • Students who have a medical condition that may prevent them from safely participating in 16 hours of physical training may want to consult a qualified medical doctor before attending the course.
