DWK Consulting provides 24-Hour Advanced Security Training (AST) for security guards and security professionals who require advanced use-of-force, handcuffing, restraint, and control-tactics training in British Columbia.

The Advanced Security Training (AST) Course is a 24-hour certification course designed for security professionals who may be required to utilize force response options or restraints when dealing with high-risk or violent individuals during the course of their duties.

This course is intended for, but not limited to:

    • Loss Prevention Personnel
    • Hospital Security Personnel
    • Licensed Liquor Establishment Door Persons
    • Airport Security Personnel
    • Campus Security Personnel
    • Security Professionals working in high-risk environments

Please Note:

  • We also have an AST Recertification course scheduled for September and October 2026.

  • The JIBC requires all completed student attendance forms at least seven days before the course begins.

The above $465.00 AST Fee includes:

      • 24 hours of professional instruction (new AST curriculum)
      • Use of spacious classrooms at Douglas College (washrooms, parking, food facilities)
      • Official JIBC BST Manual (required for course participation)
      • Official JIBC AST Manual (required for course participation)
      • Use of handcuffs and keys (provided during training)
      • Use of impact protection safety equipment
      • Professional floor wrestling mats for practical training
      • Personal protective equipment (gloves, disinfectants, paper towels, face masks)
      • Professionally prepared practice tests
      • Security and law enforcement training videos

IV. Registration information for 24-Hour AST Course       

** Do not register and pay the course fee unless you are fully committed to taking this course.

** When you complete the JIBC AST student attendance form make ensure you type in the form which course
you wish to take and the date  (e.g. 24 hour AST or 8 hour Recert and the dates)

** The fee for this course is NON-REFUNDABLE.

** If you have another person, make the payment for you, make sure you let us know:

1) who made the payment;
2) The amount of the payment made;
3) how the transaction was made (e.g.  Credit card or E-Transfer);
4) the name of the student who is going to take the course.

** We need the JIBC AST student attendance form and the payment at the same time, or we cannot register you for the course with the JIBC!!

** The information on the JIBC AST student attendance form is required by JIBC SEVEN (7) DAYS before the course starts.

** Seats are limited. We accept maximum of 12 students for the course.

** You will need a laptop for all three days of training including writing the JIBC AST examination in class on day 3 of the course.

Physical Training Requirements

    • The physical training includes scenario-based activities, warm-up exercises, self-defense and control tactics training including joint manipulation techniques, taking safely a subject to the ground onto floor mats using an armbar takedown to handcuff the subject.
    • Students who have a medical condition that may affect or prevent them from safely participating in 16 hours of physical training may want to consult a qualified medical doctor before attending the course.

STEP 2 — MAKE THE COURSE PAYMENT
